The Three Gorges Dam is the world's biggest Dam. It's located in the Yiling District of Yichang, in Hubei province, China. It's a world largest hydroelectric dam that spans the Yangtze River by the town of Sandouping in Yichang. The Three Gorges Dam is the world's largest power station in terms of installed capacity (21,000 MW) but is second to Itaipu Dam with regard to the generation of electricity annually.

The Three Gorges Dam was approved by the Chinese government in 1992. But construction didn’t begin until 1994. The dam body was completed in 2006. The $25 billion project is being internationally funded by companies, export credit agencies, and banks from Canada, Switzerland, Germany, France, Sweden, and Brazil.
